After one weekend off, the WPCA Dodge Pro Tour resumed on Thursday night with the running of the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Track conditions were perfect and the races were run under sunny skies and a very warm 22°C.
Jason Glass came into this year’s event as the defending Medicine Hat champion, but it was Grant Profit who opened up the show with the top time of 1:00.75. Coming off barrel number 2 in heat number 11, Profit, driving the Ja-Co Welding & Consulting Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by 24 one-hundreds of a second over Rae Croteau Jr. who placed 2nd overall for the night. Mark Sutherland, Rick Fraser and Obrey Motowylo rounded out the top 5 for the night.
The top 3 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night will go into Sunday’s sudden death championship final heat. Winner of the sudden death final wins the 2011 Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Championship.
Night 2 of the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede can be heard live on Friday, June 10 at 6:45pm on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
