Badlands Spring Select Horse Sale

The top selling mare at Badlands was April, a 2004 grey paint mare that sold for $7,000; consigned by Lonesum D Ranch

While the bad weather that plagued northern and central Alberta and Saskatchewan in March kept some people at home, thanks to some high tech it didn’t keep buyers from the horse sale at the Silver Sage Community Corral in Brooks, Alta. Those that couldn’t buck the drifts went online and registered bidders from the four Western provinces were able to watch the preview and sale online, plus place their bids. You could say that some high tech was used to buy some low tech.

What the online bidders missed though was the added attraction of a tradeshow with a good variety of exhibitors featuring some unique gift and supply options, plus all the great visits.

The average price for the top five horses was $6,950 with the overall sale average topping out at $3,580.
