The Southern New Brunswick Cattle Penning Club had a unique event June 2 when one of their regular penners, Marie St. Pierre, got married to penning judge, Sean Doherty on Saturday evening, and showed up to pen on Sunday morning! She hadn’t tossed her bouquet—so a break was called in the cow action and a different sort of competition was held; Fastest-Single-Girl-Bouquet-Catch. Sean had whisked his bride away from a wedding breakfast to make it back for a 10 a.m. Open Class. A friend trailered Marie’s horse for her and another was mounted and ready to sub in case she didn’t make it but the newlyweds roared in, Marie jumped into her saddle and got a placing in the Open Division. After the 7 Division runs, Sean and Marie changed and headed off to start/finish their honeymoon.
