There’s no denying the popularity of the Heritage Ranch Rodeo held during Farmfair International in Edmonton, Alta. The perfs were moved to early afternoons but that seemed to suit the spectators just fine as they packed the house for all three days of the event.

They competed for not only bragging rights but also for custom crafted gear created by some of the best Western artisans around.

The team from the San Emideo Ranch near Innisfail, Alta., (Geoff and Greg Hoar, Riley Harvie, Jordan and Carson Richardson) took third place and earned custom cowboy luggage handcrafted by leather artisan Andy Fadeef. In second place was the team riding for the Bar U National Historic Ranch (Kent Nelson, Tav Neilson, Colt and Callin Duce) who each was awarded a hand braided bosal made by Wayne Bevan and John Loree. Finishing in top spot was Northfork Grazing Co-op’s Kirk, K’s and Jesse Thomson and Mike Nelson who each received a custom silver buckle set by Tayte McRae Silver.

The Top Bronc rider award went to Mike Nelson of Northfork Grazing who was awarded a pair of spurs custom made by Richard Brooks. The top Working Cow Horse went to Jesse Thomson who was awarded a custom bit made by Dominic Valine.
