For 20 years the Horse Barn has been a part of the Kamloops Cowboy Festival. Recently they created the “Keeper of the West” silver buckle, awarded to the best new song or poem of the weekend, voted on by the festival-goers.

Congratulations to the 2016 winner, poet Brian Salmond. Upon receiving the award Salmond promptly called up poet and inspirational speaker Curtis Anderson and presented him with the buckle. Curtis is a survivor of a severe brain injury, and the mainstay of the Courage Canada Trail Ride.
