Rancher and broadcaster Hugh McLennan is the founder and host of the popular Western culture radio show, Spirit of the West. Hugh and his wife Billie live by beautiful Pinantan Lake, B.C.
Hugh has earned a wealth of awards, including being the only Canadian named as the 2008 American Cowboy of the Year to commemorate the National Day of the American Cowboy by the organization West Quest.
He has also received the Joe Marten Memorial Award for the Preservation of Cowboy Heritage in the Province of B.C., presented to Hugh at the 2008 Kamloops Cowboy Festival; the 2002 Founders Award for outstanding contributions to the values of the North American West; the 2001 Will Rogers Award as Broadcaster of The Year, the prestigious Red Sash Award from the Charles Russell Historical Society in 1999 and the 1999 Best of CAMA Award for Best Agricultural Program in Canadian Radio or Television.
