We have asked our friend, Fern Kornelson of Sundre, Alta., to blog about her experiences on the Wild Pink Yonder trail. Then I thought, perhaps I should introduce you to this amazing woman…-editor-

Imagine a 325-mile trail ride from Waterton Lake Provincial Park to Sherwood Park – that is my goal.
I grew up on a large cattle ranch in southwestern Alberta and the first 18 years of my life were consumed by horses. After graduation, I worked, got married and raised a beautiful family. In 2003 I was widowed.
Through the healing process, I remembered my first love – horses! So I bought my “shootin’ horse” Red and my “trail horse” Trooper. The therapy these “mane men” have provided for me is incredible! I belong to the Reins of Glory Musical Drill Team, Canadian Cowboy Mounted Shooters (as a shooter and the Treasurer) and I work part time in a real estate office in Sundre. I have four daughters, two step-sons, 14 grandchildren and one two-year-old great granddaughter – YES I am blessed!
Now I am 67 years young and heading out for 22 days in the saddle, doing what I most love to do – ride!
