37th Canadian Finals Rodeo full of non-stop entertainment

EDMONTON, AB – The 2010 edition of Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) rides into Edmonton Nov.10 -14.

Over five days, six action-packed performances at Rexall Place will thrill young and old fans alike, as the best rodeo athletes from Canada, the United States and Australia compete against the best stock – and the clock – for prize money and bragging rights.

The Canadian Finals Rodeo is the pinnacle of the rodeo season, and is one of the biggest tourism draws for Edmonton and the region in the fall. Northlands will be bustling with activity as thousands of fans and guests take in both CFR and Farmfair which runs Nov. 5 -14.

Richard L. Andersen, Northlands President & CEO said, “Canadian Finals Rodeo is one of the biggest indoor rodeos in the world and Northlands is proud to partner with the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) to host the event. This year’s prize money is $1.32 million and we look forward to watching the Canadian champions being crowned. CFR is an incredibly exciting event for our city.”

One of the highlights of this year’s CFR is Red Friday on Nov. 12. A special ceremony honouring the Canadian Military will take place prior to the performance.  In advance of Red Friday, Wrangler has teamed up with Lammle’s Western Wear and Tack to sell the official patriot shirt. Fans can purchase these shirts at Lammle’s and proceeds will go to the Military Family Resource Centre and the Hero Fund.

In addition to the action-packed, white knuckled adrenalin in the dirt, rodeo fans will be treated to non-stop entertainment at CFR. Fans can catch some of the biggest names in Canadian Country Music such as Gord Bamford, Dean Brody, Hey Romeo, Deric Ruttan and One More Girl. Fan favourites, Cowboy Poker and Wild Pony Racing return along with special performances by Outlaw Annie and the Littles (Cowboy Mounted Shooting) as well as multi-award-winning trick rider and liberty horse trainer, Niki Cammaert.

Across the street at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, fans can also take in some western hospitality and fabulous entertainment at The Buckle, a new live entertainment venue in Hall H. The Buckle will be open Nov. 10 – 13 and will feature tasty buffets, live music, DJ’s and demonstrations.  Dean Brody, Shane Chisholm and Hey Romeo are all scheduled to perform.
