Arenas Closed / Shows Cancelled Due to EHV-1

Here is a PARTIAL list of arenas closed due to EHV-1. At this time it appears the majority will be reopening on or near June 3, 2011 if the outbreak passes. Please CONFIRM with these facilities. Thanks to Dwight for some of the leads. :)

As well, a number of boarding facilities with arenas have closed their facilities the recommended length of time as a purely precautionery measure. Again, please confirm this with your favourite arena.

UPDATE from Randa Nugent – May 19, 2011 – THERE ARE NO PLANS TO CANCEL ANY CPRA RODEOS AT THIS POINT IN TIME. Turning out is up to each individual contestant but at this point we are going forward with the upcoming rodoes.

The Alberta Reined Cowhorse has cancelled the Cowtown Derby on May 27-29 due to the outbreak. It will be rescheduled.

Saskatchewan Paint Horse Assoc Show in Lloydminster this coming weekend has been cancelled. Not sure if being rescheduled.

QHAA advises May 16 at 8:50 PM: To keep everyone “in the loop” the QHAA is currently working on the best solution for it’s members and their horses with regards to the upcoming Chinook QH Circuit scheduled for May 26-29 in Red Deer. At this time, no OFFICIAL decisions have been made and further information is required in order to make the best decision for the group. The QHAA is not about to make decisions lightly or hastily based on the recent panic surrounding the EHV outbreak. Please stay tuned for updates in the very near future. Your patience is appreciated.

Alberta Cutting Horse Association has cancelled NCHA Days which was to be in Claresholm June 3rd weekend.

The Sask. Reined Cow Horse Association (SRCHA) is postponing the Reined Cow Horse Show of May 21 & 22, at Beaver Creek Horse Center, Lumsden SK. Alternate dates are currently being reviewed and will be posted at our website www.ReinedCowHorse.net as soon as possible.

Lloydminster Arabian Horse Show cancelled or postponed.

Westerner Spring Horse Show cancelled or postponed.
