75th Annual Frontier Days announces their concert lineup

Canadian country music star Paul Brandt, rock and rollers The Trews, plus up and coming country duo Florida Georgia Line have been announced as the headline performers of the grandstand concerts at Swift Current Frontier Days.

Frontier Days, which is celebrating their 75th anniversary year, runs from June 27 to 30.

Florida Georgia Line are the red hot duo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard who topped the charts with the million seller Cruise. They will be kicking off Frontier Days with a rare Frontier Days Thursday concert when they are on stage June 27.

The duo released their debut full length recording Here’s To The Good Times in Dec. 2012, and they are riding high on the success of Cruise and the follow up single Get Your Shine On.

The duo have a relentless touring schedule in 2013, participating in the Dirt Road Diaries Tour with headliner Luke Bryan, along with booking solo shows across North America which includes a stop at Countryfest in Dauphin.

Saturday night at Frontier Days will be a country music showcase with Robertson Implements presenting High Valley and Paul Brandt on June 29.

Brandt is Canadian country music royalty and will be stopping at Frontier Days during his 2013 Just As I Am tour.

Brandt released Just As I Am in October 2012, the 11th of his illustrious career. Just As I Am returns Brandt to his country gospel musical roots, and he teams up for collaborations with artists including Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs,  John Anderson, and High Valley.

The Calgary native is Canada’s all-time most decorated male country artist, vaulting into the international spotlight right from his debut million selling album Calm Before the Storm in 1997 which featured the ballad I Do. Just before his latest release, Brandt’s 2011 release Give It Away was 2011’s iTunes’ Canadian Country Album of the Year.

Brandt is also a multiple Canadian Country Music Association Award winner, earning the following accomplishments:

2005 – Album Of The Year: This Time Around; CMT Video of the Year: Convoy.

2002 – Male Artist of the Year; Album Of The Year: Small Towns And Big Dreams.

2000 – Male Artist of the Year; Video of the Year: That’s The Truth.

1999 – Male Vocalist Of The Year; Male Artist of the Year.

1998 – Male Vocalist Of The Year; Male Artist of the Year; Humanitarian Award.

1997 – Male Vocalist Of The Year; Male Artist of the Year; Single of the Year: I Do; SOCAN Song of the Year: I Do; Video of the Year: I Do; SOCAN Songwriter of the Year: I Do.

Brandt, who has produced tracks for the up and coming group High Valley, is touring with the brother trio of Brad, Bryan and Curtis Rempel.

High Valley have released a pair of studio albums, the self titled High Valley (Sept. 2010) and Love Is A Long Road (June 2012) and have a bright future ahead of them. They received a series of CCMA nominations and Juno Award nominations for High Valley, and they are two-time nominees for the CCMA Rising Star Award.

Canadian rockers The Trews will wrap up the concert series with a June 30 concerts.

The Trews, who formed in 1997 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, boast a pair of gold records along with a baker’s dozen of top 10 songs.

Their list of five full-length studio albums includes House of Ill Fame (2003), Den of Thieves (2005) No Time For Later (2008), the live acoustic record Friends & Total Strangers (2009) plus 2011’s Hope & Ruin.

In May 2010, The Trews released the single Highway of Heroes in tribute to all fallen Canadian soldiers and their families. The song, written and produced with Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar, directed net proceeds from sales of the song to the Canadian Hero Fund. The Trews wrote Highway of Heroes after being moved by the 2006 death of Captain Nichola Goddard who was from their hometown of Antigonish.

As a new feature this year, the Swift Current Ag and Ex will be offering a Platinum Package deal at the Step Into Spring Trade Show March 8-10 which will provide admission to Frontier Days 2013 a discounted price.

The Frontier Days Platinum Package includes four days admission to Frontier Days, four concerts, plus all three performances of the Canadian Cowboys’ Association rodeo. This package will be available at a special 75th anniversary price of $75. This special promotion must be bought in person at the Ag & Ex booth during the Trade Show.

Tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. March 8 only 500 tickets will be sold at this special discounted price. Individual tickets will also be on sale at the trade show. Early purchased ticket prices are available at a savings of $15 per concert.

At the gate ticket prices for the three concert performances range from $30 to $50. Passes for Florida Georgia Line and gate admission will be available for $30. High Valley and Paul Brandt tickets will be sold for $50, which also includes gate admission and a ticket for the CCA Rodeo on June 29. Gate purchased tickets for The Trews cost $35, which includes Frontier Days admission and the CCA Rodeo on June 30.
