Charles Augustus Semlin (1836–1927) — 12th Premier of B.C., was a gold rush prospector, rancher and had been a strong promoter of B.C. joining Confederation for economic reasons, as it would provide new markets for interior cattle. He entered politics in 1871 when B.C. became a province. Photo courtesy Daryl Drew.
