Trondheim – Norway

Trondheim is a city in the middle of Norway. It is the third largest city in the country. The settlement was founded in 997 and was the capital of Norway during the Viking Age until 1217. The city is dominated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTHU), SINTEF, St. Olavs University Hospital and Nidaros Cathedral.

In the photo is the tower of Nidaros Cathedral, the northern most medieval cathedral in the world. Historically it is the traditional location for the consecration of the King of Norway and was an important destination for pilgrims of Northern Europe.
